At the Armenian-Turkish border, they met with Levon Barseghyan, president of the Gyumri 'Asparaz' Journalists Association, to discuss the significance of opening the border. Barseghyan noted that the Akhurik station is part of the railway network established during the Cold War and serves as the last point leading from Armenia to Turkey and the final station en route to Europe.
According to Barseghyan, it could become a part of the Middle Corridor between Asia and Europe. He also reminded that this route operated during the Soviet years and remained open for one year—from 1992 to 1993. He stated that the reopening of the border could significantly impact trade and relations between the two countries.
Barseghyan added that this would benefit not only Turkey and Armenia but also neighboring countries.
