Germany Rejects Putin's Proposal
The German government has opposed the idea proposed by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, suggesting that former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder could mediate negotiations between Russia and the EU.
German authorities believe that the proposed negotiation option is not credible. According to reports, this stance is based on the fact that the Russian side has not changed its initial conditions and approaches regarding the Ukraine issue.
At the same time, Der Spiegel notes that some members of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) have expressed a willingness to discuss Vladimir Putin's proposal.
On Saturday, the President of Russia stated that Schröder is the preferred candidate for possible negotiations between the EU and Russia.
