Russia Provides Iran Alternative Route Around Hormuz Strait

According to The New York Times, Russia is exporting drone parts and other goods to Iran via the Caspian Sea, bypassing the Hormuz Strait.

The publication reports that the Russian Federation is supplying components for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Iran through the Caspian Sea, which aids in the recovery of the Iranian side's capabilities. Additionally, Moscow is sending goods to Tehran that were previously typically transported through the Hormuz Strait.

In recent months, there has been a significant increase in the number of cargo ships navigating to Iran via the Caspian Sea route.

Experts note that while it is unlikely that Russian parts will play a decisive role in a potential military confrontation between Iran and the United States or Israel, they do contribute to the enhancement of Tehran's drone arsenal. The continuity of these supplies will enable Iran to rapidly replenish its own arsenal.
