Zelensky Confirms Three-Day Ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced an agreement to establish a ceasefire from May 9 to 11 and to carry out a prisoner exchange in the format of "1000 for 1000." The Ukrainian president noted that numerous applications and signals had been received in recent days regarding plans set in Moscow concerning Ukrainian long-range sanctions.

According to him, the principle of proportionality of actions has been clearly communicated to the Russian side. Zelensky emphasized that the humanitarian issue of the release of prisoners of war has been decisive for Ukraine's position. He highlighted that the Red Square is less important to them than the lives of Ukrainian prisoners who can be returned home.

As a result of ongoing negotiations facilitated by the American side, Russia has agreed to the prisoner exchange in the "1000 for 1000" format. At the same time, the ceasefire regime is to be confirmed for May 9, 10, and 11. The president has instructed his team to promptly prepare for the exchange process. Zelensky expressed gratitude to the U.S. president and his team for their diplomatic involvement, adding that they expect U.S. support in ensuring compliance with the agreements from the Russian side.
