Russia Warns Armenia: Interference is Coming

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the European Union intends to interfere in Armenia's parliamentary elections using technologies tested in Moldova.

"For this purpose, the EU will implement the mechanisms and technologies developed during Moldova's previous electoral campaigns," the ministry's statement cited by the Izvestia newspaper reads. According to the department's clarification, the attempt at interference is indicated by the dispatch of the EU's partner mission to the country and the group for combating hybrid threats.

The ministry also reminded that "everything has its price" in Brussels, and games with the West rarely have favorable outcomes.

"The Russian position is clear and honest: we are interested in a strong, stable, and genuinely sovereign Armenia that can independently construct its policies and determine its vector of development," the Russian MFA emphasized.

It should be noted that Armenia's parliamentary elections are scheduled for June 7.

The Russian MFA notes that the number of polling stations in Russia and the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic was reduced to limit opportunities for opposition support, while their number significantly increased in Europe with the expectation of receiving votes from the diaspora.

The pro-European integration party led by Maia Sandu, which advocates distancing from Russia, managed to win 78.61% of votes from abroad, while the opposition received 17.73%. Conversely, the domestic picture was the opposite, with respective votes of 44.13% and 49.54%.
