“Do you know which country's citizens gamble the most at casinos in the world? Last year, Armenian citizens lost $20 billion in online casinos,” wrote Narek Karapetyan, a member of the 'Strong Armenia' party council, on his Facebook page.

“So, which political figure is the sponsor of this? Who will be remembered in history for the disgraceful act of trapping their own nation in a casino? Well, it seems it is the one who, by some strange twist of fate, has become the Speaker of the National Assembly. We want change to put a stop to those like you who prosper by destroying families and driving people into poverty.”

Karapetyan's statement is set to intensify public and political debate regarding the scale of online gambling, its social repercussions, and the accountability of those in power. It is worth noting that, in response to an inquiry from Auroranews, official reports from the State Revenue Committee indicated a new increase in the volume of bets recorded in 2025, surpassing the previous year's record figures. Specifically, according to the official numbers presented by the SRC, the total amount of bets in Armenia for 2025 reached 7 trillion 685 billion drams, or $20.6 billion.
