Preparation for Murder of Young Man Prevented; 9 Arrested by Ministry of Internal Affairs
The criminal police of the Kotayk regional department have obtained operational-investigative data indicating that two brothers, aged 44 and 36, were planning the murder of a 32-year-old man by involving other individuals.
The investigation revealed that the 32-year-old had insulted one of the brothers. Notably, while abroad, the brother learned of this incident and instructed his 44-year-old sibling, who resides in Nor Hachn, to take revenge on the young man.
To carry out this intent, the 44-year-old man formed a criminal group, whose members armed with pistols and submachine guns began searching for the 32-year-old in Nor Hachn.
During the search, the 32-year-old, while driving around Nor Hachn with friends, noticed the 44-year-old man, who opened fire at him with illegally held firearms before fleeing the scene.
The 44-year-old, along with his group members, pursued the young man and attempted to stop him, and although they could not find him, they physically assaulted two of his friends under the threat of a weapon.
It was also revealed that the 44-year-old had created a group on a social platform with his supporters to monitor the movement of the 32-year-old and plan to kill him when the time was right, absent of cameras and people.
The Kotayk regional investigative department has initiated a criminal case, under which searches have been conducted at the residences of the 44-year-old man, the pursued young man, and the members of the criminal group, following a court order.
During these raids, three members of the criminal group’s residences were searched, resulting in the discovery of a “Kalashnikov” submachine gun with its magazine, an air rifle, 86 cartridges of various calibers, and a switchblade knife.
As a result of the undertaken measures, nine individuals involved in the incident were identified, arrested, and presented to the prosecuting body, subsequently being taken to detention facilities. Efforts are underway to locate the other members of the criminal group. The investigation is ongoing.
