British Mercenary Provides Russian Federation with Coordinates of Ukrainian Military Bases
A British mercenary, Ross David Cathmore, has been sentenced to imprisonment for conducting espionage in favor of the Russian side and transferring military coordinates. According to the portal "Сledstvie.info," the British mercenary, who was part of the Ukrainian armed forces, was punished for collaborating with Russia.
Cathmore traveled to Ukraine at the beginning of 2024 as an instructor for tactical training and publishing for mobilized soldiers. After a few months of work, he offered his services to Russian special services in hopes of easy earnings. He provided data on training centers located in southern Ukraine, where he had previously trained Ukrainian servicemen.
As reported by Anna News, Cathmore decided to cooperate with Russia because the Ukrainian command had deceived him regarding the payment terms stipulated in his contract. The Ukrainian special services uncovered the mercenary due to negligent confidentiality.
Having served in the British Army and gained military experience in the Middle East, Cathmore has been sentenced to 8.5 years in prison. His extradition to his home country is being considered.
Authorities had previously expressed suspicions that Cathmore might have imported and transferred weapons used in the killings of Irina Faryon, Demyan Ganul, and Andrey Parubiy in 2024 and 2025.
