Trump Threatens to Bomb Iran. Ghalibaf on Expected Attacks from the U.S.
The speaker of the Iranian parliament considers the possibility of new U.S. attacks, but emphasizes the enemy's economic pressure factor.
Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf stated that there is a likelihood of double attacks from the U.S. against Iran, though they are more reliant on economic pressure.
U.S. President Donald Trump previously announced that if Iran agreed to Washington's conditions, the United States would conclude the "Epic Fury" operation. Trump added that he sees a good opportunity for a deal with Tehran, but otherwise threatened to "bomb" Iran again.
In his Telegram channel, Ghalibaf wrote, "Surely, we do not underestimate the possibility of military attacks, especially terrorist attacks, but part of the enemy's plans relates to weakening Iran from within."
The parliament speaker stated that adversaries rely significantly on economic pressure, including maritime blockade. He emphasized that a final victory in the current conflict with the U.S. would make Iran an influential player on the global stage.
It is worth noting that the U.S. and Israel have been striking targets within Iran since February 28, resulting in over 3,000 deaths. On April 8, Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire. Subsequent negotiations in Islamabad proved fruitless; although there are no reports of renewed hostilities, the United States has begun to blockade Iranian ports.
