Iranian Ambassador Explains Why Pashinyan's Visit to the Country Has Not Happened
The Iranian ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, has stated that the exact date of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's planned visit to Iran has not yet been determined. This was reported by Sputnik Armenia.
Back in February, the diplomat noted that during the visit expected in 2026, the parties intend to sign a strategic cooperation agreement.
He clarified that although the idea of the visit existed, subsequent events, particularly the war against Iran and the country’s focus on countering aggression, have led to the postponement of certain plans.
In the context of the European Political Community summit, Shirgholami expressed hope that Yerevan would be able to establish a balanced partnership with various geopolitical actors, utilizing its full potential. The diplomat emphasized the importance of taking into account the interests and concerns of all regional parties and valued strengthening stability and cooperation in the region.
