I Was Horrified: Robert Amsterdam on Aliyev's Speech

“I was horrified watching how Mr. Pashinyan gave the floor to Aliyev, who described the Christian martyrs as war criminals and demanded that the next summit of the European Political Community be held in Azerbaijan—a country that is under dictatorship,” said Robert Amsterdam, international lawyer for Samvel Karapetyan, during a press conference.

“As of today, Armenia is a country without the rule of law and is in an authoritarian state. Political opponents are imprisoned or under house arrest, and the church is under attack. Pashinyan is aimed at the destruction of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, which contradicts international law and European law,” the lawyer said.

“What impression do I have of the European Political Community summit? I have never seen such a meeting take place without any commitment to make investments in Armenia. No significant promises are given to the people of Armenia,” said the lawyer.

It is noteworthy that the President of Azerbaijan joined the summit of the European Political Community held in Yerevan via video link.
