China Circumvents US Sanctions

Chinese small companies are circumventing US sanctions by exporting dual-use drone components to Iran and Russia, reports The Wall Street Journal.

These companies are openly supplying components intended for drones, including engines, batteries, chips, and optical fiber cables, to both Iran and Russia. This activity often occurs in defiance of the sanctions imposed by the United States.

Xiamen Victory Technology has introduced German-made L550 engines associated with the Iranian Shahed-136 strike drones, which have been employed in various regional conflicts.

According to US officials, preventing such trade is complex because commonly available commercial components are used in drone manufacturing and are easily transferable through global supply chains. Many Chinese suppliers are small firms that feel little impact from American sanctions and operate with increasing openness.
