Macron Awarded the Grand Cross of the French Legion of Honor
At the Presidential Palace, President Vahagn Khachaturyan met with French President Emmanuel Macron, who arrived on a state visit to the Republic of Armenia. Welcoming the French president, the President of the Republic thanked him for visiting Armenia and participating in the summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan.
"Since 1991, Armenia has been in the spotlight of France, and we have walked this path with the support and assistance of France. Of course, it has historical roots; we share the same civilizational values and have been together in the struggle for Christian values. I am confident that your visit will serve as a new impetus for the development of our relations," the President stated.
Emmanuel Macron expressed gratitude for the meeting and warm hospitality: "I am very happy to be in Armenia for a state visit today. We will also have meetings tomorrow, which I believe will open a new chapter in the history of relations between France and Armenia," said the French President.
During the conversation, the parties highly appreciated the historically formed friendship and the cooperation based on mutual trust between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of its continued deepening and expansion into new strategic directions. The presidents thoroughly discussed the agenda for cooperation in the political, economic, defense, and educational-cultural sectors, highlighting the importance of implementing initiatives aimed at concrete results.
President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed France's commitment to continue supporting Armenia and deepening bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of defense, infrastructure development, artificial intelligence, high technology, and communications, viewing them as key areas for long-term partnership.
Regarding regional developments, President Vahagn Khachaturyan reaffirmed Armenia's consistent position aimed at promoting a peace agenda and building relations with all states based on principles of non-conditionality, mutual respect, sovereignty, and goodwill.
During the conversation, the presidents stressed the importance of further developing parliamentary diplomacy and promoting effective cooperation between friendly groups in the parliaments of both countries. The parties also addressed the expansion of decentralized cooperation, emphasizing its role in strengthening local self-government systems and sustainable community development.
At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue high-level political dialogue and effective cooperation for the welfare of the peoples of both countries and to strengthen regional peace and stability. Additionally, President Vahagn Khachaturyan and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan awarded Emmanuel Macron the Grand Cross of the French Legion of Honor.
