EU Political Leaders Arrive in Yerevan

A delegation from the European Union, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Council Charles Michel, President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, and EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, has arrived in Yerevan.

According to an Armenian News Agency correspondent, the delegation was greeted at Yerevan's Zvartnots Airport by the Speaker of Armenia's National Assembly Alen Simonian and Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan.

The leaders of the EU governing bodies have come to Yerevan to participate in the 8th summit of the European Political Community.

The summit will be held on May 4 in Yerevan under the theme “Building the Future: Unity and Stability in Europe.”

The first summit of the European Political Community took place for the first time in Prague, Czech Republic, on October 6, 2022. Subsequent summits have been held in Chișinău, Moldova; Granada, Spain; Oxfordshire, United Kingdom; Budapest, Hungary; Tirana, Albania; and Copenhagen, Denmark.

The European Political Community unites leaders from approximately 50 European countries on an equal footing, in a spirit of unity and shared purpose. It provides a political platform to foster political dialogue and cooperation to address common interests, strengthening the security, stability, and prosperity of the European continent. The European Political Community summit provides a platform for European leaders to exchange experiences and expand cooperation. It does not replace any existing organization, structure, or process.
