New Details on Planned Terror Attack During Taylor Swift Concert

A 21-year-old man in Austria has admitted in court that he planned to carry out a jihadist attack during Taylor Swift's concert in Vienna in August 2024. According to investigation details, the main suspect had intended to use explosive devices, cold weapons, or to drive a vehicle into the crowd to maximize the number of casualties.

After his arrest, he confessed to the charges, stating that he was ready to commit suicide for the sake of his ideology. Two other individuals are also involved in the case, one of whom is under the custody of law enforcement in Saudi Arabia. According to the investigation, these individuals formed a terrorist group that had connections to an incident in Mecca, which resulted in injuries to security personnel.

If the charges are confirmed, they face up to 20 years in prison. The main suspect was apprehended in the city of Ternitz based on information from American intelligence services. Before the attack, he had left his job, informing colleagues that he was preparing to do something “big and significant.”

For security reasons, all of Taylor Swift's concerts scheduled from August 8 to 10 were canceled. Despite the cancellation of events intended for approximately 200,000 spectators, thousands of fans gathered in downtown Vienna to express their solidarity. This case has received widespread international attention, highlighting the importance of cooperation among intelligence services in preventing terrorism.
