Video: Netanyahu's Effigy Shot and Set on Fire in Spain

Davit Jalalyan

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lodged an official complaint with the Spanish government regarding an anti-Israel demonstration that took place in the country. The temporary chargé d'affaires of Spain in Tel Aviv was summoned to convey the Jewish state's dissatisfaction with the incident.

The protest was sparked by an event organized in Spain where demonstrators shot and burned an effigy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Reports indicate that the effigy bore offensive inscriptions accusing the Prime Minister of committing genocide.

The Israeli side accused Madrid in an official statement of promoting anti-Semitic sentiments and ‘anti-Israel fanaticism.’ The diplomatic agency emphasized that such actions are unacceptable and detrimental to bilateral relations. As of now, there has been no official response from the Spanish side.
