Video: It's Late, It's Foggy, Your Train Has Departed - Arthur Khachaturyan
“The only name written on your pre-election posters was ‘Nikol,’” said opposition MP Arthur Khachaturyan during his speech at a special session of the National Assembly, criticizing the controversial amendments proposed in the Electoral Code. According to the amendments, “the name of the coalition cannot contain personal names, the names of state and local self-governing bodies, or names that are similar to them, as well as their declensions. The name of the coalition cannot include offensive or defamatory words or expressions.”
“They understand that it’s over, it’s done, and they are trying to create obstacles in various ways... It’s late, it’s foggy, your train has departed,” Arthur Khachaturyan stated.
It should be noted that the amendment is being made due to a mistake, as the final version of the draft used the term “paragraph” instead of “sentence” due to editorial changes made during the discussion from the first to the second reading. As a result, the current edit has led to the interpretation that it’s not the second sentence of part two of Article 81 that has been annulled, but rather its second paragraph.
