VIDEO: I Never Said We Are Building a New Landfill, Avinyan

The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, has announced that he instructed the construction of not a new landfill, but a waste recycling plant. He emphasized that if there are ongoing efforts towards constructing a new landfill, they should be halted.

“We are not building a new landfill; we need to preserve our existing landfill and establish a waste recycling plant. I have stated in clear Armenian from the very first day that we are conducting parallel processes to understand how we can quickly reach a solution. If at some point we can consolidate those processes, I would be glad, but we are not building a new landfill; rather, we are working on a waste recycling plant. This is the challenge before us. We are not engaging in any other compromise process. As soon as we have managed the existing landfill, we can keep it manageable without delving into deep processes and make improvements,” he said. “Please do not discuss the process of building a new landfill.”
