Russia Takes Cautious Approach Towards Armenia, Says Ovechuk
The Russian business community is exhibiting a cautious approach towards entering into contracts with Armenia, in light of discussions surrounding the country's potential membership in the European Union. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Ovechuk during a broadcast on Channel One.
According to him, this topic has been discussed multiple times with the Armenian side. Ovechuk noted that Russian companies are concerned about such prospects, which, according to him, affects cooperation between the two nations.
The Deputy Prime Minister also presented results for 2025, emphasizing that bilateral economic turnover has decreased. He reported that this figure has dropped from 12 billion dollars to 6.4 billion dollars.
Ovechuk added that this change is linked to statements regarding Armenia's relationship with the European Union, indicating that both countries have collectively incurred losses exceeding 5 billion dollars.
