Call to Iran: Attacks Must Stop, Says Kaia Kalas
The head of the European Union's foreign policy, Kaia Kalas, and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone conversation to discuss the situation surrounding Iran and its impact on global energy security.
Kalas stated that the Iranian attacks on civilian vessels and the risk of their recurrence have led to almost complete suspension of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. She emphasized that restoring safe and free navigation in the strait in accordance with international maritime law is a priority issue.
She noted that the European Union supports all diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing tension and stabilizing the situation. At the same time, it was highlighted that attacks on civilians and infrastructure must cease.
