Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev Makes a Statement
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that the infrastructure works within the framework of the Zangezur corridor are approaching completion. He stated that the construction of the automobile road is about 90% finished, while the railway construction is around 70% complete.
He noted that the project is expected to be fully completed in the near future. At the same time, he emphasized that the construction of the Kars-Nakhchivan railway has already begun in Turkey, which will enable the systematic integration of the infrastructures of the two countries.
According to Aliyev, the combination of these projects will lead to the formation of a new international transport corridor, which will become a branch of the Middle Corridor. The railway being built in the initial phase is intended to transport up to 15 million tons of cargo annually, although this figure may increase in the future.
He highlighted that the launch of such a corridor will be of great importance not only for the involved countries but also for the broader region, providing new transport routes and opportunities for cooperation.
