U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to halt arms supplies to Ukraine to pressure European allies and involve them in securing navigation in the Hormuz Strait. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing sources familiar with the discussions.

According to the publication, the potential cessation of supplies concerns the PURL mechanism. This is a weapon acquisition program for Ukraine, funded by European countries. Sources claim this option has been considered as a means to change the stance of European capitals.

The newspaper also noted that Washington had proposed sending NATO troops to ensure the opening of the Strait. However, several European countries initially rejected this demand.
