I Will Beat Him: Tsarukyan's Proposal for Ilia Topuria
In the lightweight division, the second-ranked fighter in the UFC, Arman Tsarukyan, has discussed the prospects of current champion Ilia Topuria. According to Tsarukyan, the Spanish-Georgian athlete could achieve a historic outcome if he changes weight classes and competes for new titles.
Tsarukyan mentioned that it would be advisable for Topuria to move up to the welterweight division and test himself there. He emphasized that even in the event of a loss, this move could be viewed positively as an attempt to challenge for a third title.
The fighter stated that if Topuria manages to defeat Islam Makhachev, he could become a legend in the sport by capturing three championship belts. He also noted that such an achievement has not yet been recorded.
At the same time, Tsarukyan did not rule out other scenarios, indicating that if Topuria loses, he could return to lightweight and compete again. “If it doesn’t work out, Topuria can come back to the lightweight division, I will beat him, and then the UFC management will release him,” Tsarukyan said.
