US Has Options on Hormuz Issue, Says Pete Hegseth
Mariam Z.
The United States may take various steps if Iran does not ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open for international navigation, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth stated. He emphasized that President Donald Trump has sent a clear message to Tehran, demanding the strait be opened for economic and trade activities.
Hegseth noted that otherwise, Washington has relevant responsive actions available. The Defense Secretary's remarks came during a press briefing, where he highlighted that the US is prepared to utilize its existing capabilities should the situation develop further.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered a critical conduit for global energy supplies, and its closure could significantly impact international trade.
