Pentagon Develops Options for Final Strike Against Iran: Axios
The U.S. Department of Defense is developing several options for a so-called "final strike" against Iran, including large-scale bombings and possible deployment of ground forces, Axios reports, citing sources.
According to these sources, the objective is either to compel Tehran to make concessions in negotiations or to end the conflict with a show of force.
Among the scenarios being discussed are the seizure or blockade of Kharg Island, operations on Larak Island, which controls the Strait of Hormuz, taking control of Abu Musa Island, also claimed by the UAE, and blocking Iranian oil-exporting vessels.
Also under separate discussion are options for mass aerial strikes against nuclear material control sites or relevant facilities, as well as deep ground operations.
Donald Trump has not yet made a final decision, but sources indicate that he is prepared for an escalation of the situation.
