Which Countries Stand Behind the Easing of US-Iran Tensions: Axios
In the last 48 hours, the prevention of large-scale war in the Middle East has become the result of active work by international mediators who have continuously relayed messages between Washington and Tehran. According to Axios and Reuters, Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan have played a significant role in this process, with senior officials from these countries conducting separate meetings and phone calls with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The traditional involvement of Oman is also noted, as it has facilitated indirect communications in Geneva and Muscat, attempting to bring the parties closer to a common agreement on the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Kingdom has also joined this mediation process. According to The Guardian, London is not only supporting the negotiations but also is actively involved in the work of diplomatic channels aimed at preventing the destruction of energy infrastructure.
Through these countries, Iran has conveyed its readiness to discuss the restoration of navigation, which has laid the groundwork for President Trump's statement regarding the postponement of strikes for five days. Despite public denials from certain Iranian power holders, mediators continue to work 'behind closed doors' to try to reach a final agreement before the set new deadline.
