Child Abused by Stepmother Dies in Hospital

A child who was abused by his stepmother and hospitalized in extremely critical condition has died. This was reported to NEWS.am by the Arabkir Medical Center.

Earlier, we reported that on March 16, an unusual incident occurred in Yerevan. After midnight, a one-year and two-month-old boy was admitted to the Arabkir Medical Center, diagnosed with 'clinical death', who, according to preliminary information, was beaten by his stepmother.

The Investigative Committee stated that a criminal case has been initiated in the Yerevan city investigative department, characterized by attempted murder due to the violence committed against the child. During the preliminary investigation, one person has been arrested.

The Prosecutor's Office also reported that for about one and a half months, violence had been systematically inflicted on the child, and on March 15, there was an intentional attempt to unlawfully deprive him of life.

A petition was submitted to the court for the woman's arrest, and she has been detained for two months.

According to information, the biological mother of the child resides in the Masis community of the Ararat region and has three other children in addition to the little boy. Two of them have been placed in the custody of a foster family residing in Yerevan, one child is being cared for by the grandmother, while the little boy had recently been under the care of his father and stepmother. The child's father and stepmother live in the Arabkir community of Yerevan.
