Step-Mother Subjected 1-Year-Old Child to Violence for Nearly 2 Months: New Details

In the Arabkir administrative district, a public criminal prosecution has been initiated by the prosecutor against the child's stepmother due to incidents of physical violence inflicted on a 1-year-old child, resulting in severe physical pain from January 22 to March 10, 2026, as well as on March 15, where the stepmother allegedly attempted to unlawfully take the life of the child.

The prosecution is based on Article 196, Part 2, Item 3, and Article 44-155, Part 2, Item 3 of the Criminal Code. A motion has been submitted to the court to choose detention as a measure of restraint. This information was provided to Auroranews by the Office of the Prosecutor General.

It is worth recalling that on March 16, an extraordinary incident occurred in the Ararat region. After midnight, a boy was rushed to the Arabkir Medical Center in Yerevan with a diagnosis of "clinical death." The police in Arabkir discovered that the child admitted to the hospital was 1 year and 2 months old, named Alexandr M., and according to operational information, the child was allegedly beaten by one of the parents.
