HETC Clarifies the Power Outage Related to Levon Ter-Petrosyan's Residence

The Electric Networks of Armenia company (HETC) has provided clarification in response to a statement released by the office of the first President of the Republic of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

Regarding the power outage at the private residence and office of the first President, HETC states that on March 15, at 1:05 PM, the No. 8 cell of the 6 kV closed distribution equipment at the Yerevan Hydroelectric Power Station was disconnected. This led to alterations in the electricity supply scheme.

The reason for the disconnection was that the construction company working on the Juventus Football Academy had dismantled and demolished a building belonging to the academy adjacent to the transformer substation without coordinating with relevant HETC departments, damaging the walls and roof of HETC's transformer substation.

As a result of heavy rainwater infiltration, electrical equipment and feeding cables at the transformer substation failed, along with four substations within the supply chain's loop scheme, affecting their low-voltage electrical equipment and cables. Ultimately, this led to a large-scale local disruption.

Since that moment, six addresses (subscribers) supplied from the affected substation have experienced a power outage, including the residence and office of Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

Yesterday, starting from 2:10 PM, the damage to the feeding cables from TE-1112 and the 400 kVA transformer was identified, as well as a short circuit on the 0.4 kV side which caused damage to the sectionalizer in TE-1754 and the input load breaker in TE-1753.

Due to newly arisen circumstances, at 3:40 PM, the laboratory began works to locate the damaged cables, completing these at 8:10 PM. The brigade responsible for repairing the company's cables and equipment immediately commenced repair works, completing their tasks today at 7:20 AM.

From 7:20 AM, TE-1112 was put under load; however, due to the failure of insulation resistance, other equipment at the substation malfunctioned. Currently, works to increase the insulation resistance and drying of the equipment and materials are continuing intensively.

In a few hours, the electricity supply to all six mentioned addresses will be restored. We ask for our subscribers' understanding regarding the inconveniences caused.
