France Proposes Historic Agreement to Resolve Conflict in Lebanon
France is proposing a historic agreement to resolve the conflict in Lebanon, according to Axios.
Sources from the portal indicate that Paris has put forward an initiative requesting that Lebanon officially recognize Israel for the first time in its history. In exchange, Israel is expected to withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon, and both sides will commence negotiations on a non-aggression pact.
The proposal also includes the disarmament of Hezbollah, the repositioning of the Lebanese Army south of the Litani River, and the implementation of international monitoring.
Israel and the United States are currently examining the proposal. Lebanon has already agreed to use it as a basis for negotiations, but success depends on active mediation from Washington.
