Who Will Assume Khamenei's Responsibilities: Statement from Iran
Following the assassination of Khamenei, a new spiritual leader for Iran has been appointed: Ayatollah ul-Uzma Seyyed Hossein Boushehri.
Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref has announced that the responsibilities of the slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed as a result of a U.S. and Israeli attack, will be shared temporarily by the country's president, the head of the judiciary, and one of the members of Iran's Guardian Council.
“The president, the head of the judiciary, and a member of the Guardian Council will temporarily carry out the duties of the Supreme Leader,” the Iranian IRNA agency quotes the First Vice President.
A new commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been appointed: General Ahmad Vahidi, as reported by the Iranian Mehr news agency.
It is reminded that Ali Khamenei was assassinated on Saturday morning in his office, following a missile strike by the U.S. and Israel. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian army have promised in statements to avenge the assassination of the Supreme Leader.
