Georgy Papoyan Discusses News on the Nationalization of Veolia Water

“I believe there is no need to nationalize Veolia Water,” said the Minister of Economy of Armenia, Georgy Papoyan, during a conversation with reporters.

The minister assured that there are no discussions regarding the nationalization of the company. According to him, “Veolia Water” has been issuing the same content in its communications for seven years, but this did not receive wide resonance in the past; however, the situation has changed in the eighth year, on the eve of elections.

“When you published that statement, we responded that it was not a good statement. Yes, thanks to government intervention, 24-hour water supply must be ensured. The government has said that there must be 24-hour supply, and if there are problems, they should be presented for resolution,” noted Papoyan.

He maintained that the government invests billions of drams every year into the development of water supply infrastructure to reduce water losses. “When those funds are not wasted but directed toward developing water infrastructure, you can demand and insist on 24-hour water supply,” the minister concluded.
