Arsen Torosyan on Meeting with Taxi Drivers

The government has held a "very constructive meeting" with individual taxi drivers providing services. This was stated by Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan during a press briefing, addressing the protests of taxi drivers.

According to him, drivers using online platforms participated in the meeting, and all issues raised by them were discussed. "A small part of these issues relates to the government; the other part pertains to the Yandex platform or other platforms," the minister noted.

Torosyan assured that the government is working on solving the problems and that discussions will continue. "We will meet again next week. The paths for resolving certain issues are already clear, for instance, regarding pension security," he said.

The minister also criticized the interference of some activists, stating that they, in his assessment, spread misinformation and try to play on the feelings of the drivers for political gain.

"I don’t think there is any issue that cannot be discussed and resolved. The situation should be objectively assessed and aligned with the taxes paid by other workers and the services they receive. There are no unsolvable problems, and we will continue the process," emphasized the minister.

According to him, several changes have already been made prior to the meeting, and possible other changes will also be implemented. The state, according to Torosyan, will try to ensure progress on health insurance and pension issues.

Regarding the drivers' dissatisfaction with the Yandex company, the minister noted that the state, as a major representative of the IT sector, has working connections with the company. "There will also be discussions with them, and they are interested in resolving these issues as well," Torosyan concluded.
