Mexico's 'El Mencho' Eliminated, Riots Erupt in Several States

Mariam Z.

Ruben Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, better known as 'El Mencho,' has been eliminated in Mexico. He was considered the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). This was reported by the Mexican National Defense Ministry.

According to an official statement, during the operation, soldiers were attacked and, in defense of their lives, returned fire. Four members of the criminal organization were killed on the spot, while three others were severely wounded and died during air transport to Mexico City. Among the deceased was also Ruben N.

Following the incident, mass riots have erupted in at least five states across the country. The epicenter of the unrest has become Jalisco state, with disturbances later spreading to neighboring regions. Several states have activated emergency security protocols and intensified police presence.

The operation to neutralize 'El Mencho' was carried out by special military units, with the participation of the air force and the National Guard's rapid response team. The preparatory phase involved military intelligence, the National Intelligence Center, and specialized prosecutors against organized crime. It was also noted that U.S. authorities provided additional information.

During the operation, two alleged members of the cartel were arrested. Law enforcement seized weapons and armored vehicles, including rocket launchers capable of hitting aerial targets and destroying armored cars. Three soldiers were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

To tighten security measures, additional National Guard and military units are being sent to Jalisco from central and neighboring states.
