Ministry of Education Denies Rumors About Closing 231 Schools
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Republic of Armenia officially informs that the information circulating on various platforms in recent days regarding discussions claiming that 231 schools are to be closed in Armenia starting from September 2026 is unfounded and constitutes misinformation.
The state policy being implemented in the education sector aims at the effective development of general education, expanding access to education, and improving quality, rather than restricting educational opportunities.
Current large-scale school construction activities across the country serve as a vivid proof of this. As a result, new schools and kindergartens are periodically being opened in various communities throughout the Republic.
It is regrettable that the education sector is being manipulated and targeted to create baseless anxiety and misunderstandings among the public.
We urge citizens genuinely concerned about the development of the education sector and the professional community not to fall victim to the manipulations of forces serving various agendas and to rely solely on official and credible sources.
The Ministry will continue to operate openly and transparently, providing the public with complete, accurate, and substantiated information regarding the initiatives and programs being implemented in the field of education.
