Search Conducted at Gagik Tsarukyan's Residence and Land, Lawyer Says
The president of the Prosperous Armenia party and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan's residence and land are currently under examination. This was stated by Tsarukyan's lawyer, Emin Khachatryan, in a conversation with Armenpress, adding that the operation is taking place not at his residential address, but at another property.
"The search is happening not at his residence, but at another house, yes," Khachatryan noted. According to him, the criminal case initiated has no connection to Mr. Tsarukyan. This case was opened back in 2020 against former officials of the Arinj community.
He indicated that there was a need to examine several parcels of land within the scope of the criminal case, including the land belonging to Tsarukyan. "We have not filed any objections," the lawyer added.
He also informed that the criminal case was initiated in 2020 under Article 184, Part 2, Point 1 of the former Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (causing property damage through deception or abuse of trust, committed by a group of individuals in preliminary agreement).
According to the lawyer, Gagik Tsarukyan currently holds no status in relation to this case. "At this moment, he has no status. I am confident he cannot have one. Besides, Mr. Tsarukyan was only questioned once about this case back in 2020 when it was first opened," Khachatryan said.
He explained that the search is being conducted with the permission of the court. "The investigator has petitioned the court, and the court has permitted the examination to take place so that experts can obtain several dimensional data and photographs for providing conclusions," Khachatryan concluded.
Auroranews.am contacted the Investigative Committee, which stated that they are not providing any comments regarding the search at Gagik Tsarukyan's home. "At this moment, we are not commenting on this case," the Investigative Committee reported.
