Iran Still Does Not Fully Trust the U.S. – We Are Working on an Agreement, Araqchi
Iran is working on a proposal for an agreement that would secure the right to use peaceful nuclear energy while preventing the development of nuclear weapons, stated Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
“I have already instructed my team to work on a feasible plan or proposal that can guarantee that Iran will not have nuclear weapons, while simultaneously ensuring Iran's right to use nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes – for electricity, medicine, and agriculture,” the minister said in an interview with RT.
He also emphasized that Iran still does not fully trust the U.S., especially in light of the fallout from negotiations in 2025, and wants to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
On February 6, delegations from the U.S. and Iran conducted talks in Muscat, the capital of Oman, regarding Iran's nuclear program. U.S. President Donald Trump noted that the talks went well and would continue.
Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi reiterated on February 8 that Iran insists on its right to enrich uranium, even if it leads to war.
