I Consider Russia Joining the TRIPP Program to Be Absurd: Simonyan
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, stated in an interview with Factor TV that he does not consider Russia's joining the TRIPP program to be probable, emphasizing that it is a "Armenian-American organization."
“First of all, TRIPP is an Armenian-American organization. If we are talking about opening a similar route or embarking on a similar pathway, in my opinion, it should be a separate initiative. But within the framework of TRIPP, I find it a bit absurd because it means doing everything to ensure that TRIPP does not work suddenly,” he said.
Regarding Russia's interest, the Speaker noted that “this is normal; it is the tactic of a great power” and does not signify anything extraordinary. According to him, “Everyone is interested in having influence in the countries surrounding them.”
When discussing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, Alen Simonyan declared that “the page of war is closed” and the peace agenda is accepted by the public. He believes that this approach will be “once again confirmed in the elections of 2026.”
