French Prosecutor Summons Elon Musk for Questioning

The French prosecutor's office has announced that Elon Musk, the founder of the X social platform, along with the company's former CEO Linda Yaccarino, has been summoned for questioning on April 20, 2026. This information has been confirmed by an official statement from the prosecutor's office, published by the BFMTV television channel.

According to the prosecutor's office, the ongoing investigation aims to ensure that the operations of the X platform within France comply with national legislation. It has been noted that the process is viewed as part of a collaborative approach, without any preliminary conclusions.

In addition to Musk and Yaccarino, several employees of the X platform will also appear for questioning as witnesses between April 20 and 24. At the same time, searches are being conducted at the offices of X France, which handles the company's public relations.

It is noteworthy that Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, has reacted to the situation with a post on the X platform. He pointed out that France holds social networks criminally accountable, which, in his description, provide users with a certain level of freedom. Durov added that under such circumstances, France cannot be considered a fully free country.

Recall that in January 2025, the French prosecutor's office initiated an investigation against the X platform based on suspicions that its algorithms could be used for foreign interference. The investigation stemmed from two official complaints filed by a member of parliament and a high-ranking state official.
