A Group of Madmen Has Seized Power in Europe: Medvedev
The leadership of the European Union has lost its composure and is pursuing a policy that contradicts the interests of its own countries. This statement was made by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, highlighting that a "band of madmen" has seized power in Europe.
“Overall, I have the feeling that a band of madmen has seized power in Europe, and they are leading the European Union. Europe amazes me. Because through its own actions, it undermines the foundations of its existence. This is simply astonishing,” Medvedev emphasized.
He noted that the European Commission is acting in opposition to the interests of certain countries. The EU leadership ignores public sentiments, including regarding the potential accelerated membership of Ukraine, and "pushes its own agenda" in pursuit of political ambitions and the ongoing path towards "strategic defeat for Russia."
Medvedev predicted that such a policy from the EU would inevitably lead to its complete defeat and have a tragic end for European leaders. He also compared the approaches of the EU and the United States regarding cooperation with Russia, stating that Washington's policy remains predictable, regardless of presidential changes; only the degree of ease in communication changes.
