I Remember How Nikol Pashinyan Went to Nagorno-Karabakh and Danced: Zakharova

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, expressed confusion over Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements regarding the supposed inaction of CSTO partners towards Yerevan in September 2022.

Commenting on these remarks during a weekly press briefing, Zakharova stated that she does not understand what "decision" or whose actions are being referred to. According to her, such statements resemble a series of unfounded claims and require clarification.

“Is he blaming the CSTO for the destruction of Armenian statehood? It seems strange to hear all of this. Perhaps the quotation was incorrect; let’s clarify,” said Zakharova.

She emphasized that judging from the context, Pashinyan's statements were related to the situation surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, but noted that she does not recall any legal decision recognizing that territory as part of the Republic of Armenia. “I remember how Nikol Pashinyan went there and danced; that’s what I remember. But I do not know anything about any legal recognition or inclusion of this territory into Armenia,” she stated.

Zakharova added that without a clear understanding of the context and subject of the accusations, it is impossible to provide a meaningful commentary. She noted that after clarifying the formulations and facts, the Russian side would be ready to present appropriate explanations and interpretations.
