I Also Sleep, Eat Bread: Anahit Avanesyan
A few days ago, during an interview with Taguhi Ghazaryan, a concept emerged to stage a dance performance. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, in a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly today, January 30, in response to a question about whether the video of her dancing circulating on the internet was her initiative or that of the music's author, Nikol Pashinyan.
The minister noted that she does not possess the talent for singing or playing instruments, and for that reason, she suggested a dance performance that the youth happily joined. She stated that the initiative was a joint effort.
Smiling, Avanesyan addressed the journalists, asking, 'Did you like me, or how was it? It's just a dance that we will stage with the youth.' She added that the dance would be staged for just one day.
In response to the remark that a person in a responsible position has the time to dance, the minister said, 'I also sleep, eat bread, and communicate with my children on the phone. Yes, sometimes I dance too; I do this outside of working hours—in the evening. Along with long and arduous work, a person should also have other interests—reading books, dancing, singing, socializing—to maintain their mental health.'
Avanesyan did not rule out the possibility that other female ministers and deputies from the ruling Civil Contract party might join her dance. She also mentioned that she has experience working in other fields and can engage in activities outside of the ministry; however, she is confident that this will not happen before 2026, as the Civil Contract party is certain to achieve victory, in her words.
