US Deploys Air Defense Systems in the Middle East
The United States is deploying air defense systems in the Middle East in response to potential aggression from Iran.
According to data from Flightradar24 and ADS-B Exchange, US Air Force C-17A Globemaster III military transport aircraft are delivering equipment to the Middle East from Robert Gray Army Airfield, which is used by the air defense battalion stationed at Fort Cavazos in Texas.
Fort Cavazos hosts the 62nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, which operates Patriot air defense systems and the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense systems designed to intercept ballistic missiles.
In the last two days, US transport aircraft have conducted six flights, including one today to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan and another to Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
