The Detention of Bishop Mkrtich Extended; All Restrictions Lifted
The detention of Bishop Mkrtich, the leader of the Aragatsotn Diocese, has been extended for another month, and all forms of restrictions imposed on him have been lifted. This decision was announced by judge Davit Dabagyan, who presided over the session.
It was noted that today marked the first court session in the case against Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, during which public prosecutor Tigran Muradyan submitted a request to extend the detention period.
Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan is charged with two offenses: obstructing electoral rights by utilizing state or official powers, and coerce participation in assemblies by employing the same powers.
It is worth recalling that on the morning of October 15, 2025, the Mother See announced the arrest of the leader of the Aragatsotn Diocese and several other clergy from the diocese.
