Zakharova Considers the Criminalization of Vardan Ghukasyan's Speech Absurd

The criminalization of speech aimed at strengthening relations with the Dashnak party is absurd. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Zakharova reminded that Russia has always defended, not only by words, the sovereignty, independence, and prosperity of Armenia. However, she noted that the Armenian authorities' response to Ghukasyan's statements is markedly different from their silence regarding various comments from several countries, particularly European nations.

“We have not seen any legal processes, let alone arrests of individuals calling for reckless steps towards joining the European Union. However, joining the EU indeed entails a certain relinquishment of sovereignty. This approach is precisely what is needed,” she said.
