Lavrov Expresses Concern Regarding Armenian Apostolic Church
The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has commented on the financial assistance provided to Armenia by the EU, stating that Brussels will require Yerevan to "earn every cent." This refers to the €15 million tranche allocated to Armenia.
During a press conference regarding the 2025 results, Lavrov linked this aid to the EU's rhetoric concerning the so-called "hybrid threats" presented by Russia. He reminded that the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonian, and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had previously acknowledged the existence of such threats, particularly in the context of the situation surrounding the Armenian Apostolic Church.
“Recently, Armenia has been granted a €15 million tranche, and I have no doubt that the Brussels bureaucracy will make our Armenian friends earn every cent,” he concluded.
