Bulgarian President Announces Resignation

Analysts note that the emergence of a new political party led by former President Rumen Radev could significantly change not only Bulgaria's domestic affairs but also its foreign policy, referencing his positions on Ukraine, the euro, and corruption.

The President of Bulgaria has announced his resignation. Rumen Radev has been the head of state for nine years.

“Our democracy will not survive if we leave it in the hands of corrupt officials, businessmen, and extremists,” the president said, adding that he would submit his official resignation today.

Thus, analysts indicate that the assumption has been established that Radev will enter the parliamentary race and attempt to take the position of Prime Minister. Bulgaria is a parliamentary republic, with governance belonging to the parliament, the Council of Ministers, and the Prime Minister.
