Unknown Assailants Kidnap Over 160 Christians During Service in Nigeria

On January 18, armed assailants kidnapped over 160 Christians in northern Nigeria while they were attending Sunday services at two churches. This was reported on Monday by Agence France-Presse, citing Joseph Hayab, president of the Christian Association of Northern Nigeria.

“The attackers arrived in large numbers, blocked the entrances of the churches, and forced the worshippers to follow them,” the agency quoted him as saying.

Authorities have been informed of the incident and are taking measures to locate the abducted individuals. In the past two years, attacks on churches in Nigeria targeting believers for kidnapping have become increasingly frequent.
