Self-built structures can be legalized, says head of Cadastre Committee

In the Republic, self-built structures can be legalized, with the registration process starting from January 20. This was stated by the head of the Cadastre Committee, Suren Tovmasyan, during a press conference. Previously, when citizens were given the opportunity to register their self-built structures constructed before 2021, many were unable to participate in the process.

“Numerous citizens submitted applications asking for another opportunity. They noted that they missed the deadline, were not sufficiently informed, or could not respond in time. A decision was made to grant an additional opportunity, and the process will officially begin on January 20, 2026. The deadline is set until December 31, 2026,” stated Suren Tovmasyan.

Citizens who have self-built structures constructed before 2021 can now measure them and enter the data into the electronic system. After receiving confirmation, they can consider their real estate registered and can apply to the community to discuss the legalization of the structure.

First, it is necessary to ensure that the structure was built before 2021, then apply to a surveyor who, after conducting work on-site, will upload the relevant documents to the electronic system, about which the citizen will receive an SMS notification. After cadastre confirmation, the citizen will receive a second SMS notification indicating that the structure is registered. Suren Tovmasyan urged citizens not to postpone the registration process until the last days and to start as early as January 20. The workload of qualified specialists at the end of the year may lead to changes in service prices.

According to previous regulations, around 70,000 self-built structures were submitted via the registration system.
