Dmitriev Announces EU 'Capitulation'
The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, has declared the rapid capitulation of the EU before the US, following reports that the EU has no plans to impose countermeasures against the US due to Greenland.
"Rapid capitulation, as anticipated," Dmitriev wrote on his X social media page, attaching a post from the Clash Report news platform, which reported that EU diplomats had stated to Reuters that the EU currently has no plans to implement countermeasures against the US over Greenland.
Reuters, citing EU diplomats, reported on Saturday that EU ambassadors are set to meet in Brussels on Sunday for an emergency meeting against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump's threats to impose tariffs on Greenland. Trump announced on Saturday that a 10% tariff would be imposed in February on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland, which would later increase to 25% and remain in effect until a deal for the purchase of Greenland by the United States is finalized.
